These are all worthy vehicles, but with its handsome styling, enormous cabin and competitive pricing, the 2014 Buick Enclave easily holds its own in the current population of family-friendly crossovers.Įvery 2014 Enclave includes antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front outboard side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and a rearview camera. The MDX, meanwhile, offers the best overall driving characteristics of any three-row SUV in this price range. And if you're willing to drop down a bit in size, higher-end rivals like the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60 have even nicer interiors, advanced features, and in the case of the Infiniti, an available hybrid powertrain. The Ford Flex, with its wagonlike styling and available turbocharged V6, is a funkier take on the same theme and definitely worth a test-drive, as is the more athletic-handling and nearly as spacious Mazda CX-9. Checking out the Enclave's aforementioned Chevy and GMC relatives is still a good idea, as you may like their styling or lower base prices. Naturally, there are plenty of choices out there. It also comes with more equipment, as all models feature amenities like xenon headlights, triple-zone automatic climate control and the IntelliLink touchscreen electronics interface (which includes smartphone app integration) as standard. The Buick boasts fancier styling, however, as well as richer interior furnishings than its cousins. ![]() Like its Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia platform mates, the Buick Enclave offers a spacious cabin, a variety of seating configurations, a pleasant ride and sufficient V6 power. Among these new-age station wagons, the 2014 Buick Enclave stands as a sensible choice, particularly if you want something that's upscale but still significantly less expensive than the full-on luxury crossovers from various European and Japanese automakers. ![]() It's easy to see why, as these crossovers offer plenty of room inside for passengers and their belongings, as well as the availability of all-wheel drive to get them confidently to their destinations in foul weather conditions. It should also be revealed sometime next year with deliveries likely in the same year.Large crossover SUVs have become the vehicle of choice for many large families. But it might get a sportier road-going version that could take advantage of the torque-vectoring dual-clutch rear differential from those aforementioned off-roaders. Odds are it will not get an off-road variant like the Acadia AT4 or Traverse Z71. It should be paired with an eight-speed automatic and either front- or all-wheel drive. We're expecting the Enclave to have basically the same powertrain as the GMC Acadia, with the one engine offering being a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The rectangular exhaust tips are nicely fitted to the rear bumper. It seems to have slim, wide and curvy rear taillights. The D-pillar looks quite thick, which will probably be toned down with judicious application of gloss black plastic.ĭetails of the rear are difficult to make out. The greenhouse seems to take after the GMC Acadia more than the Traverse, as it seems it has a relatively thin C-pillar. The sides of the Enclave still have a fair bit of the Coke bottle curves that have appeared on every Enclave, if a bit more toned down. We're not totally sure if this look will work on such a large, tall vehicle, but we'll reserve final judgment when we can see the car with all its paint and trim on display. High up are slender daytime running lights with the actual illuminating headlights hidden lower in the outboard air intakes. It's hard to say whether it will get a mesh grille like some of the production SUVs, or a slatted grille like the concept. It has the pointy shark nose and wide, frowning grille. ![]() The Enclave's front is where the Wildcat connection is the most clear. It's still going to be big, and it will now receive the same sort of Wildcat concept-inspired styling as smaller Buicks such as the Envista and Encore GX.
